Hello, I’m Liam

I’m an award-winning Deaf and disabled journalist, campaigner and soon-to-be author. In this particular corner of the internet, you can read about my progress towards becoming the latter, and help hold me accountable and ensure I put pen to paper (or rather, fingers to keyboard).

When I’m not doing that, I’m probably writing for a couple of different news outlets on a freelance basis. There’s indy100, which is a sister site of The Independent reporting on trending topics, and The Limping Chicken, which is a leading Deaf news website. I also review London theatre shows and write more about disability over on my own website, if you fancy reading more of my stuff.

Liam is in an archway of mirrors and lights, like one in a fairground. Liam is looking up at the camera, his back to the wall/mirror, and the photo shows Liam from the left side, showing his hearing aid and glasses, of which the frame is producing a rainbow-like reflection with a white or light blue glow. Liam is also wearing a black zip up jacket and white top.

Here on Substack, you can sign up to The Book Accountability Project, a monthly newsletter where I share updates on how my book - on the niche-but-hopefully-not-too-niche subject of autism research - is going ahead of a final manuscript deadline of March 2023, and how you can get involved.

You can also read archived issues of my All-Inclusive Newsletter, a series I run back when Revue was still a thing which looked at the intersection between disability, social media and technology. Now I’m on a paid newsletter platform, I may consider bringing it back - but perhaps when I’ve got this book thing sorted out first.

If you want to read more comical musings, follow me on Twitter while it’s still somewhat alive. If you want my more professional style of writing, give me a follow on LinkedIn. And if you fancy scrolling through a few glamorised PowerPoints or ‘infographics’, I do a lot of that over on Instagram.

All three accounts are also easily found by searching for ‘LiamODellUK’ and the name of the platform.

Want to chat about something or discuss potentially working together? Cool! Drop me an email.
