Hello interested individual,
It’s been a while. You may be wondering what this email is and how it managed to invade your email on a Monday morning, but you previously signed up to receive emails about the work being done on my first ever non-fiction book.
Failing that, you subscribed to the previous All-Inclusive Newsletter, which is now been retired due to a combination of Revue only allowing one newsletter at a time and me running out of time to commit to a hobby which I was offering little reward.
Now I have a book to write and, eventually, sell. But more specifically, I am now in the process of reaching out to potential interviewees to chat about the themes of my book. I already have a good list of folks, but I’m wondering if you have a few other experts who I should definitely speak to.
The book will be touching upon:
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
Eugenics
Meaningful engagement and consultation with autistic people
Andrew Wakefield and the MMR scare
Under-representation of autistic people who are ethnically diverse, LGBTQ+ (particularly trans/non-binary folk) and women in research - both as participants and researchers
Charities and their relationship with autism research
Ethical regulators of autism research and their role as watchdogs
The medical and social models of disability
Autistic autism researchers
Autistic people who have participated in autism research, particularly those which proclaim to look for the genetics or ‘origins’ of one’s autism
Spectrum 10K
The media’s role in reporting on research
If you have some strong opinions or insight on this, or know someone who might, then I’d love to hear from you. You should be able to respond to this email directly to get in touch, or you can email me at liamodelluk@gmail.com.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and I hope to share another update on book progress in due course - accountability and all that.
Until next time,
Liam
